Theme or Model?

Post by adivie »

OK, I see where Jasmine has a topic posted about her for us to reply with our favorite videos starring her, However, with about a hundred models to choose from, plus the multi-model features, there could be a topic started for each model concerning favorite roles or videos. Yes? No?

Really, what are the preferences used when selecting a video or requesting a custom? Do you go with a particular model? Is the story-line most important? Is it a combination of the two factors or something else I have missed mentioning?

Since I have laid out the questions, I will go first. I prefer the theme or story-line over the model. The model does not matter that much to me if the story-line and theme are to my liking. As a matter of fact, I have fifteen videos from Dave and, almost, each one features a different model. As a matter of fact, when requesting my custom, the story-line was provided but I left the model choice to Dave.

As to my inventory with Dave, videos by models I do have are as follows:

Jasmine St. James: 1
Dakkota Grey: 1
Cheyenne: 1
Lily: 1
Laci: 1
Autumn: 1
Dixie Comet: 1
Violet: 1
Lydia Lael: 1
Desiree Lopez: 1
Hannah Perez: 1
Tara: 1
Cadence Lux: 1
Rachel Adams: 1
Jasmine St. James & Hannah Perez: 1

So, you see I am all over the board when it comes to models. However, all of the videos have a story-line and theme I enjoyed. Other forums I chat on have members who prefer a particular model and will tend to specialize in their works so much that they collect across several studios as long as the video stars their particular model.

Again, this is just curiosity. I saw that Jasmine has her own topic concerning favorite videos. However, other models do not have their own topic nor does a favorite theme have its own topic. I am not asking for specifics just what criteria do you use when selecting or browsing for new videos.

I asked about Jasmine because she's the most prolific (and just between us) my favourite, but I'd be happy to debate the best performances by any of the ladies. There's a vast catalogue to plough through, but I am considerably more interested in the work of those models who have appeared in my customs, i.e. the three on the current roster (special mention for Rachel Adams, who has custom-ed for me elswhere).

So, clearly for me, the model is a big factor. The fact that they have already delivered for me at least once means there's one less thing to worry about. I'm sure some would say I pick the same things over and over, particularly with regard to customs. I can work out from experience, or with Dave's/Natalie's guidance, who might perform better in a particular set-up. A case in point: Cadence in a peril-heavy video. The right combination, I think.

But I also like to see what other models have to offer, so will sometimes buy an interesting plot with another lead, perhaps when reduced in price. And of course this is where a compilation video is very attractive.

The split between theme/plot and model is on a sliding scale for me. I would consider almost anything with Jasmine (non-bondage included); a less familiar or attractive (to me) model, and the quality of plot, quantity of bondage and other factors become more important.

With me, I guess, once I have found the right studio, next criteria is theme. For example, I have already picked Beauties-in-Bondage as my go-to studio. Now, I will browse videos based on my favorite theme. I like all of the models on BnB so I have no problem with the main star of the video. Therefore, I have ended up with a scattering of video selections from several different models.

I think some themes/plots might suit one model over another. I have certainly chosen a particular model for a particular story on occasion; I suspect Dave may well choose a particular idea for the model he has on-site in any one session, and save up a different theme for when someone else comes in. Of course, at the moment the model pool is small, but Vonka, Cadence and Jasmine all have different strengths and perhaps preferences, so sufficient variety of acting talent is available for most ideas.

Dave has mentioned that certain models will go nude and others will only perform non-nude roles. Also, on the previous forum, it was mentioned that some models will not perform certain types of bondage. Therefore, you are on the mark when stating the model is important and Dave would, most likely, know which model will suit the custom role best.

Several topics have been posted asking about favorite models, scenarios, themes, etc. Dave will produce what he believes will sell or suit his fancy. :D Our tastes will change so these lists tend to continuously evolve over time. I love the way Dave dresses his models for his movies. On other forums, where I have posed this topic, the newer posts now are moving towards the tennis outfit or similar outfit. From videos in the stores' inventories, that does not seem to fit well. Dave tends to dress his models more business-like or conservative. They may end up nude but they start out well-dressed.

Again, this is a topic for generating conversations. It is NOT intended to influence Dave on how or what he needs to be producing. If you want to go that route, I highly suggest sending an email to Natalie for a custom request. She is awesome at getting the custom on the right track and into production. I have gone that route and the final product was SPECTACULAR!

On further reflection, I am leaning more heavily to 'model' over 'theme' these days. On several occasions, I've been tempted to consider a custom project on learning that a particular model or models will be shooting with Studio X next month. Then again, I hope I can still craft a script that is suitable for the model and the style of production. Some studios can be a little evasive about exactly who may be in place to star in my latest plot, though. Never say never, but that can go against me deciding to proceed. Another reason to come here - the model I choose is the model I get!

We seem to go back and forth on this issue. Sometimes or for some others, it will be the model and then the theme. Others will be the theme and whatever model is available, most likely.

I still lean more towards the theme or scenario and let the model be chosen for me, like who is next available. Others have a diffenent idea. For instance, the Jasmine topic is still receiving lot of hits, although no entries or posts.
