Sales of old and new
Some interesting results. Looking at the first quarter for this year, the following videos have made exactly the same number of sales:
Book Of Spells - Mura Suru
Only One Way Out - Sinthia Bee
Mrs Steele Investigates Remastered - Beverly
Grabbed & Zipped Remastered - Carissa Montgomery
And slightly less sales:
Help - Mura Suru
Trying Something New - Nina Alder
No Escape (upscaled) - Jade Indica
Too Much Rope - Ten Amorette
None of these sales are outstanding either. It does make me wonder if there is really a market for new content, other than Jasmine's. The new ones are customs, which is all that justifies the cost of production. Otherwise, releasing remastered oldies would definitely be the way to go.

Well, I for one would be sorry not to see new material coming out, but I recognise the business case...
Re: Sales of old and new
Good to see newbies Mura and Nina making an impact on sales with their videos.

Re: Sales of old and new
A new Jasmine video be it a custom or what is always front page news. Nina as got much potential going for her it's early days yet. I think her last video however featured nudity which i am not big on myself but that's just me. But again it just might highlight the sales of a video good or bad are really down to each ones own preference.davidnorth wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 9:50 pmSome interesting results. Re: Sales of old and new
There's no question that things have changed though. I don't publish as often as I used to, and the psychology of selling stuff requires regular updates to bring people in. However, I cannot keep up that kind of pace anymore, so there is nothing to do about that.
As for sales in general, they are much less now than just 5 years ago. By that, I mean that, in the BiB store, a given title will sell far less copies than before, by a factor of about three. It's very significant, and gives me pause when I consider hiring models, because now I know the return will be smaller while the cost of hiring remains the same. The saving grave is that C4S bondage sales are much better than here, but even there the number of units sold is still down overall. The survival of the bondage side of the business relies heavily on the performance of Bound2Burst content which, while not quite as dramatic as in years past, still sells in much greater numbers. Indeed, some of those clips do extraordinarily well and can literally pay for a shoot on their own. It's ironic in a way, because bondage is the most time consuming thing I do.

On a more positive note do we have any further updates when Jasmine' will next be visiting the studio.davidnorth wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 3:12 pmThere's no question that things have changed though. Re: Sales of old and new
Have you ever thought of putting together compilations of specific models, Dave? For example, maybe a "Best of Lily"? Or would it be too much of a hassle? I've probably purchased most of Lily's clips, but it would be cool to have a compilation of three-minutes snippets from 12-15 different clips of "Lily being gagged" or "Lily struggling and mmmpphing."
On a side note, Bound to Burst isn't really my thing, but I was pleasantly surprised when I checked it out a few years ago and discovered that some clips had bondage in them. And as you can probably guess, I bought the ones with Lily...

You have to do what is best for your business. We all understand that part. It is a shame that new material and new models are not catching on as we had hoped they would. They do have so much potential. As to the Burst vs Bondage, that is a puzzle to me. So many more people seem to be inclined towards bondage than towards desperation. Yet, it could be more are embarrassed to admit they like the Burst movies.

Re: Sales of old and new
I have considered making collections for individual models. This approach works well on Bound2Burst and Made2Please. Oddly, the Beauties in Bondage compilations I have released over the years have not attracted much attention. I took this to suggest that the bondage audience was not especially interested in this format. Still, it might be work a try. I should probably start with "Just Jasmine: Volume 1". The question is, should I tailor such a compilation to an individual taste, or mix the content. For example, if I make it all about gagging, it will attract the gag audience; if I make it all about tying, ditto, and so on. Or, should it contain a balance of components? I suppose it depends on how narrow the focus is for the audience at large. I am aware that some people will only buy a clip if the girl is cleave gagged, or if the girl is tape gagged, or she is wearing skimpy clothes, or she is dressed professionally, or handcuffs are involved, or, or, or. It gets to a point where a producer does not know which way to turn!!!DastardlyReturns wrote: ↑Sat Apr 05, 2025 2:33 pmHave you ever thought of putting together compilations of specific models, Dave? By the way, B2B was so named because, in the first few years, almost all clips combined desperation and bondage. That was me producing what appealed to me the most, which is rarely a sound business model. But, I was naive and just starting out! All the same, the clips sold very well, back then. Voices of dissension grew in number, however - I would hear from those who wanted the bondage without the desperation component, and visa versa. Hence, BiB was born. Some overlap remains for the B2B audience, some of whom still like the combination.

Re: Sales of old and new
Sales overall have declined, at least for the BiB Store. This has not happened with the Clips4Sale equivalent. The latter has a much bigger potential audience, and it works despite the fierce competition (I think they have upwards of 30,000 bondage stores). Obviously, my own stores don't get the kind of viewing figures that a store on C4S is likely to do, but surprisingly, Bound2Burst generates as much and often more than its C4S counterpart. It's more niche, but has a more dedicated audience. So, yes, far more people seem interested in bondage, but far fewer of them actually buy anything!adivie wrote: ↑Sat Apr 05, 2025 5:50 pmYou have to do what is best for your business. I don't expect anyone to admit stuff publicly about what would embarrass them. I only base my comments on what sells.
