Sequels
How do people feel in general about sequels? I see talk about one to complement 'Up On Her Toes', and of course 'The Final Problem' is a second sequel itself. Any custom I commission is usually followed by thoughts (at least) of further adventures for the same characters. Am I being lazy like Hollywood, or does a sequel usually fly (assuming the first one was any good)? Question for the boss: could a two-part story be filmed with the same cast on the same day, then released separately according to the studio's schedule?

Re: Sequels
Yes of course. As long as it is a story with enough going on to keep it interesting. I have filmed a few customs so long that they had to be sold in 3 parts, but by part 3 the plot was getting very thin and tired. I think the problem is that a client tends to like only certain things and wants those repeated in each part, rather than evolving the story to encompass more components. This would cater to a wider audience and make the production more cost effective.GB2691 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 1:10 pmHow do people feel in general about sequels? Re: Sequels
In my (limited) experience, it does seem as though some clients are happy to revisit previous ideas and themes over and over again, and I expect we all do it to some extent, even if we tell ourselves we don't and genuinely try not to. From the producer's point of view, I suppose he or she has to balance meeting the customer's preferences with putting together something that others will be interested in, too. A sequel has some built-in 'sameness' by definition, but on the other hand a little familiarity with the characters saves a bit of exposition and gains some 'brand loyalty', perhaps. Or is that just me ?
Re: Sequels
I can see your point although you really "hit the nail on the head" when you stated that previous themes and ideas tend to be revisited over and over by clients. I have a particular theme I enjoy in my clips. Now you also mentioned the model's brand loyalty. That is one thing these models are striving for is a substantial following (if you read their Twitter or Only Fans accounts). They say the market is getting saturated and many mainstream actresses are starting to get into the "fetish" market to make money, especially during this COVID Pandemic and lack of movies at the theaters.
My question, I guess, would be, is it feasible to shoot the same themed videos with the same model continuously? Or shooting a sequel with the same model-character now running into a different predicament? I know Rachel Adams has her Ultra Girl videos that come out periodically for her fans who love super-heroines. Would it do the same justice to create a character for another model she can create videos for to distribute to her admiring fans in the same way?
I hope I did not confuse you and stayed within your topic. You bring up a lot of good points that I like to contribute to for discussion.

Re: Sequels
It's a question of balance throughout. I like a particular model. I like a particular 'character' she plays. I like a particular scenario she might find herself in. How many times will I pay for essentially the same thing? It might be quite a few times, but the producer has to judge how much different each one needs to be, to keep me onside without alienating others (or if not alienating, at least not buying again).
My (eventual) three-part custom with Jasmine told a whole story and I think each part was different and could stand alone, as a bondage video if not a work of art. Other people would just see three videos with Jasmine running around and getting tied up (and nothing wrong with that!) Dave may not mind why people are buying them, but he needs to try and figure out what will prove popular, ideally before commissioning, hiring, filming.
Also, with respect to the models' acting abilities and the scriptwriters' skills, I'm not sure how many different characters are actually portrayed - there's only so much you can do within the limitations of the genre. I like to have plot and characters, but most of all, I like Cadence to get tied up, and that tends to trump other considerations. In other words, the 'same theme, same model, same character' thing is already happening more than we intend, perhaps.
I would compare this idea to the band producing a new album. Do they re-hash the last one, with the 'brand-loyalty' thing to the fore, and eventually the law of diminishing returns applies? Do they go in a different direction, annoy their record company and potentially lose fans?

Re: Sequels
Stick with the genre. I like a band because I like their style and rhythm. The same goes for the videos and models. I tend to purchase more on the theme than on the model. It is the same with my music and other tastes. I go with the style and quality rather than who created the work. It makes it easier for requesting customs as I prefer whoever is available and is willing to perform for the custom. In my request, I left the model part open and
Dave filled it with Cadence. She was fabulous. The custom is outstanding. I have no regrets for my custom.
That being said, when I get burned by a studio, person, manufacturer, etc, I tend to stay away from them for good. They have lost my business. I am a loyal fan of Beauties-in-Bondage and Forced2Please because Dave can and will deliver what I want with the models he has available.
As for sequels, they tend to be along the same plot lines, even if the story-line is different. Look at the Lethal Weapon, Home Alone, Vacation, and other movies with many sequels. All are basically the same movie shot with only a slightly different story-line. Therefore, the same should (and to me does) go for shooting bondage sequels with the same model. Especially, if you have a great producer making the video. Dave's newly-released videos tend to be in the top five or ten of the Forced Stripping and Bondage categories at Clips4Sale. Sequels with then same model work. One just has to judge how well sales are going to determine if the next installment of "ModelX Gets Bound & Struggles Hard" is worth producing. Maybe, I am wrong and it is more than just sales but sequels do work, especially, like you stated, with the Bondage genre.

Re: Sequels
Now that a few more movies have been added to Dave's inventory, which movies are screaming for a sequel? Who will be filming with Dave again to even produce another sequel?
To start, let us go with Jasmine and Vonka in "Faux Friendship". Last we saw, Jasmine had been left at the drop-off point for the buyers after Vonka had double-crossed, bound, and tortured her. For the sequel, Jasmine is now an item in her buyer's inventory. She is put through various bondage situations. If she can escape, what dastardly revenge lies in wait for Vonka?

Re: Sequels
Ooh, Faux Friendship 2 sounds like a great idea!
I suppose the first option should go to whoever had the original idea. Dave? Or was it a custom video?

Re: Sequels
Sinithia's visit does more to provide for new material since all of her movies co-starred Cadence Lux. However, Jasmine might be able to come up with a few sequels (doubtful but still imagining) for some of her previous roles. What would be some delightful sequels to view, if possible?
In "Cancelled", poor Jasmine was left strapped to a chair as a bomb was about to blow up near her. If Jasmine can escape, will she still be able to escape the evil clutches of her obsessed fan?
**NOTE**
To Jasmine,
I promise never to be as obsessed of a fan as the villain was in "Cancelled". Cross my heart!

Re: Sequels
Speaking of Jasmine's return and the making of sequels, what about "Haunted"? Last we saw of Jasmine, she had been stripped down to her lingerie and tied between two trees. Will she ever escape? Can she get away from her captor, if she does escape her bondage? Will she become bear meat, although she would fare no better than a light snack for them?
