Question for Custom Creators

Post by MontyG »

I'm considering commissioning a video, but I've never done so before. For those of you who have written customs, how long do your scripts tend to be? How much stage direction do you include? Any tips, advice, or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

First of all, if you can afford a custom, do it! I don't think you'll regret it...

My outlook may not be the same as yours, but for what it's worth:

1. Keep the script fairly brief. You want to get across your idea and your specific requirements, but then leave it to the producer and models(s) to deliver. I'd suggest you don't script much specific dialogue, maybe one or two phrases you'd like to hear from your damsel, but otherwise let them improvise around the idea.

2. I typically break my request into three sections: (a) Plot or scenario - a few lines on the story you want told or the situation in which your star gets tied up; (b) Clothing, etc. - how you'd like to see your model dressed/undressed, how she wears her hair, that sort of thing; (c) Bondage - what materials and positions the damsel should be bound and gagged in. Maybe you'd also add something about how you would want the bondagette(s) to act - frightened and submissive, angry and feisty, lots of struggling and gag-talk... Does she try to escape? Does she succeed?

3. Bear in mind the restrictions on content imposed by Clips4Sale, etc. It may be frustrating, but Dave or whoever probably can't make your clip if prohibited actions or materials are included. Some producers use methods of sale that offer more freedom, but that may make your custom more expensive. With a bit of ingenuity, I find that I can still get most of the elements I like, in spite of the 'fetish police'.

4. Since you are here, I'm supposing that the Beauties-in-Bondage style is to your liking, but whichever producer you are thinking of asking for a video, check out the sorts of things they specialise in to see if it's appropriate for your ideas.

5. Personally, I like to choose my model first, and build the custom around her. With some models, I now know more of their strengths and limits, which helps in refining the script. Alternatively, it might be the story or set-up that matter most to you. In that case, perhaps a suitable model for your idea would be suggested to you, though you might then have to wait longer for her to become available.

6. Natalie is great for helping you lick your idea into shape; Dave is great at converting the idea into bondage gold. Other script editors/directors are available, but they're not as good!

I hope this helps and would be happy to discuss further...

Thank you for the advice. You’ve helped a lot. I will definitely be referring to your response as I write.

When I finally do commission a custom I would absolutely like to go through BiB. I like Dave’s work too much to go to anyone else first. I look forward to seeing what he, and the ladies of BiB, would do with my ideas.

I would love to see Vonka and Jasmine face off again. I understand their schedules probably don’t mesh often, but a person can dream. Regardless, I’m gonna go put on my writing hat and whip out some ideas. Thank you, again!

I definitely agree with GB2691 on this topic. He has commissioned more videos than I. I also tend to break my commissions down into parts.

Part I: Basic Layout -
Who is to be your main star? Do you have a preference?
How many models? Most of mine have been one model videos but I have commissioned a couple of multi-model videos.
What type of clothing is to be worn?
Any stripping or clothes destruction to be handled?
What type of bondage? Spread-eagle standing or on a bed, chair-tie, hog-tie, etc.
What type of restraints? Rope, zip-ties, handcuffs, etc.

Part II: Movie Plot -
I try to keep the movie plot as simple as possible. The more complicated and involved, the more the movie will cost. Also, my simpler movies have received better reviews from fans and models than the more detailed plots. As GB2691 stated, unless you are into mmphing into a gag or hearing certain dialogue, let the models and producers come up with the scripts. I let the action be as generic as possible and let the producers get specific. If they have questions, they will ask you. Otherwise, they know their business and their models and riggers. Most know them better than I and have done far better than I could have imagined.

Part III: Recap -
I always like to briefly go over again what I am looking for in the movie. This is where I state what I really want to see in the movie. I give the producer an idea as to how he can change my story up, if needed, and still deliver on what I really want. I may tell him I want this Model to be captured and stripped. I want her gagged and mmphing into the gag.

Some Notes:
For simple movie plots involving bondage, you will spend about $150 to $250, depending on the producer, bondage, action, simplicity, etc. It may seem like a lot but I look at it like what do I spend for groceries per month. I have expenditures for fun things that cost more than a custom. I do not commission customs but like once every 60 days. I have NEVER regretted a custom I commissioned. I have regretted some videos (not here) I have purchased from other producers. Your commission should be researched for model and producer, especially. The producer is MOST IMPORTANT! Many of my commissions have been "whatever model is available". So, RULE #1 is "Go with a producer you trust and have researched to your liking".

Thank you, Adivie. Your response was also very helpful. Having never commissioned a custom, I was unsure of how to proceed. Now I have a much better idea of what to include. While I am fully capable of writing a complicated script, I would much prefer to provide a general outline and see where Dave and the ladies take it.

You will not regret a custom video. I thought, at first, it was crazy to spend that kind of money on a video when standard videos were so inexpensive. However, a custom is YOUR creation to YOUR tastes. After my first custom, I have never looked back. Just remember! DO NOT RUSH INTO COMMISSIONING A CUSTOM VIDEO! Take your time and think out your script and outline on paper or computer, first. See it in black & white before submitting to the producer.

Always, never hesitate to asks questions. If your questions will not be answered, MOVE ON!
